'Fiddler' opens tonight at Ghostlight Theatre

— Debby Swartz is pretty pleased with her upcoming production of “Fiddler on the Roof.”

All summer long, three nights a week, she and her 34-member cast have been rehearsing for the Starry Night Theatre production which opens at 7 p.m. tonight at the Ghostlight Theatre, 170 Schenck St., in North Tonawanda.

“I’ve got a very talented cast of musical people from all over western New York,” said Swartz, who runs the company with her husband, Don, a local playwright.

The Ghostlight has sold out its 214 seats in the past, she said. “The last time we did Fiddler, tickets sold out very fast,” she said, advising people to call the box office at 743-1614 or visit the website www.starrynighttheatre.com.

““Fiddler on the Roof’ is always an audience pleaser,” she added. “They will not be disappointed.”

Tickets are $17 general admission and $15 for seniors and students.  Tonight’s production starts at 7 p.m. The play starts at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Aug. 10, 11, 17 and 18. There is a 2 p.m. matinee on Aug. 19.

“Fiddler on the Roof” is under the music direction of Joann V. Mis, and features Dan Zerpa as Tevye.
