Kalyn Compeau's four goals lift Warriors to playoff win.

CITY OF TONAWANDA — Kalyn Compeau is an unstoppable force on a soccer field.

The Junior sensation scored four goals for Tonawanda on Tuesday afternoon to lead the Warriors past Albion, 6-2 in a sectional quarterfinal match at Clint Small Stadium.

Compeau now has 24 goals and seven multi-goal games for the Warriors (13-4) this season. She missed three games at the start of the year and Tuesday's four-goal effort was her fourth straight game with at least two goals.

"I don't really like scoring that many goals because I feel selfish, but it has to happen," Compeau said. "I have to have that selfishness sometimes. It felt good and it's hopefully going to pay off in the end."

Warriors coach Julie Johnson has been waiting patiently for the unselfish Compeau to start being more aggressive. Johnson said Compeau's recent offensive hot streak couldn't come at a better time.

"This is a coming out party at the end of this season for Kalyn," Johnson said. "She worries about everybody else first but then she realizes that she can help us win games. A lot is in her hands and she's really stepping up. She has a lot of confidence now."

Albion (9-7-2) struck first and put a scare into a Tonawanda team that has a tendency to start slow. But the Warriors came storming back when Hope Balling netted her fifth goal of the season to get the Warriors on the board.

Compeau said her team played scared at the start of the game.

"They have some good players and we heard about them and we were nervous," she said. "For some reason we start off slow, I don't know why, but we have to fix that because that can come back and get us."

Alexis Lilly netted the other goal for Tonawanda. Johnson was thrilled with the whole team's effort, especially after a shaky start. She said it's exciting to watch Tonawanda when they get in gear and are clicking offensively.

Next up for the Warriors is Wilson (15-1-1) who won its quarterfinal match, 6-1 against Southwestern. The Lakewomen played Albion to a 2-2 tie earlier this season, but Johnson is expecting a tough game on Thursday afternoon.

"This next game will be tough," she said. "Every time you advance a round it always gets a lot harder ... (But) We have a team that won't quit right now."
