• Mary Louise Nice was scheduled to be a principal speaker at a testimonial dinner for New York’s “favorite son” Sen. Jim Mead whom Pres. Roosevelt wanted to make governor. Miss Nice, a school teacher, was a Democrat in an overwhelmingly Republican city.
• Funeral services were conducted for Dr. Charles T. Crance, 864 Payne Ave., who died Saturday. Dr. Crance located to the Tonawandas in 1905.
