Clinton campaigning for Hochul on Friday

Former President Bill Clinton will host a rally for Democratic Congressional candidates Friday in Rochester.

Clinton is stumping for incumbent U.S. Reps. Kathy Hochul, D-Amherst, and Louise Slaughter, D-Fairport, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The rally will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Slaughter, who presently represents the Lake Ontario-hugging 28th District, is running for re-election in a new district that does not include Niagara or Orleans counties.

Hochul, who presently represents the 26th District, is running for re-election to the newly formed 27th District, which includes almost all of Niagara County along with Orleans, Genesee, Livingston, Wyoming and parts of Erie, Ontario and Monroe counties. Her opponent is former Erie County Executive Chris Collins.

Hochul said in a press release Tuesday that campaigning with Clinton is a “privilege.”

“President Clinton represents the very best of bipartisan leadership, and his record demonstrates the positive progress we can make when Democrats and Republicans work together to grow our economy, strengthen the middle class and balance the budget,” she said.

Tickets to the rally can be obtained online, at http://kathyhochul.ticketleap.com/clinton/.
