NT teen pleads guilty to sexual abuse

Tonawanda News — A 17-year-old from North Tonawanda pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse Thursday in Niagara County Court.

Jordan Hoefert, 17, of Payne Avenue, was arrested in North Tonawanda July 5 following two incidents that occurred between September of 2010 and May 27 of 2012, according to Lt. Karen Smith, of the North Tonawanda Police Department’s juvenile aid department.

Hoefert allegedly fondled a 9-year-old girl. According to Smith, one of the incidents took place at Hoefert’s home.

Hoefert will be sentenced before Judge Matthew Murphy III on March 21. The charge, a class D violent felony, carries a maximum charge of seven years in prison.

Police Chief Randy Szukala said Hoefert was initially charged with attempted rape, sexual abuse and abusing the welfare of a child.
