Man reportedly jumps from GI bridge

Tonawanda News — Several witnesses saw a man jump off the south Grand Island Bridges Friday morning, according to New York State Troopers. 

The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m., but a body has not been found. 

“Water and aerial search and recovery efforts by the New York State Police, Erie County Sheriff’s Department, Town of Tonawanda Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, and Town of Grand Island Fire Department produced negative results in locating body,” a statement from the state troopers reads.

State Trooper Leonard Genovese said they have not confirmed the incident and do not have a description of the male. 

Authorities are continuing their investigation.
