TOWN OF TONAWANDA — Louis Henhawk, the suspect in an armed robbery at the NOCO gas station on Niagara Falls Boulevard, was arrested Tuesday morning.
A warrant for Henhawk was issued Monday. Two Buffalo Police detectives recognized him from a mug shot released Tuesday and turned him over to Town of Tonawanda police.
“Henhawk was spotted on Hertel near Niagara Street,” a statement from the police reads.
The charges against Henhawk include first-degree robbery, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
He allegedly entered the gas station, located at 820 Niagara Falls Blvd., and threatened both a customer and an employee with a black semi-automatic handgun.
The report states that the suspect approached the employee at the register and said “don’t be stupid, give me the money.”
It’s estimated the clerk gave him about $100, but the exact figure is yet to be determined.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. Friday.
Henhawk then allegedly fled the scene, but another employee, who was outside at the time, was able to get a good glimpse of Henhawk and gave a description of the suspect to police.
Henhawk has at least one previous arrest in the town, according to police records. Just last month, on Oct. 14, he was arrested for petit larceny after attempting to steal two 12-packs packs of beer from the same gas station. He was released on an appearance ticket following his arrest.
This time, however, Henhawk was held for court and was set to appear before a judge Tuesday afternoon.
