Local firm second in ad contest

— — A Town of Tonawanda recycling company came in second place this week among three upstart local companies in line to receive a free advertising campaign by the Buffalo ad agency Crowley Webb.

The agency’s “Twenty-Five Hour Workday” contest had yielded three finalists, including Triad Recycling at 3755 River Road, one of just two businesses statewide that recycles asphalt shingles for use in roads.

Despite a last minute surge in voting for Triad on the agency’s website, the contest went to a Buffalo-based custom T-shirt company called You and Who, which works with a nationwide cadre of artists to create shirts that are sold before the company donates matching items and meals to organizations that help those in need.

You and Who received 47 percent of the vote in the contest sponsored by Crowley Webb in honor of its own 25th anniversary, in which the winner will benefit from a free ad campaign produced in one marathon, non-stop, 25-hour day.

The agency will begin working on You and Who’s campaign the morning of Jan. 26 with the finished product being delivered 25 hours later.

Runners up were Triad and Community Beer Works, a micro-brewery on Lafayette Avenue in Buffalo.

More than 40 businesses entered the contest by submitting proposals on the agency’s Web site. Finalists were encouraged to garner votes online, which came in at more than 15,000 votes between Nov. 14 and Dec. 4.
