• Nick McAndrews, Trey Petrina, Colin Brousse and Greg Petrina were among the children on Fletcher Street swapping “Yu-Gi-Oh!” trading cards.

• Bishop Henry Mansell of the Buffalo Diocese was the main celebrant at the 150th anniversary celebration at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Broad Street. A reception followed.

• Ronald Crelot, a North Tonawanda native, was serving aboard the USS Kearsage, which participated in the recovery of Astronaut Schiara.

• The San Francisco Giants were headed for the World Series after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers. This was the 18th pennant in the club’s history which dates back to the 1870s in New York.
