• Two small children were saved from a flame-filled bedroom and their mother was injured in jumping with one of them from a second story veranda in escaping a roaring fire which gutted the two story frame tavern of Mrs. Anna Wrazin of 444 Oliver Street. The injured woman was Mrs. Frank Wolfe.
• A communication from Henry J. Koch, former city sealer of weights and measures, asking for a year’s leave of absence to work in a defense plant, was “received and filed” by the North Tonawanda Common Council. After enactment of a local law several weeks ago giving the Council power to appoint a sealer of weights and measures, City Health Inspector Alex Nelson was named to the post.
