Pedestrian struck by van

Tonawanda News — A pedestrian was struck by a van early Thursday morning in the Town of Tonawanda, police said.

The 19-year-old was traveling east on Ensminger Road and was crossing the intersection of Millens Road and Ensminger at 5:23 a.m. when the accident occurred.

The pedestrian was conscious after the accident, but suffered head injuries and was transferred to Erie County Medical Center.

The driver of the van was turning on to Millens, about to head north.

“He didn’t have any drugs or alcohol in his system,” Lt. Nick Bado said.

No charges have been filed against the driver.

Town police completed a full-blown accident investigation.

“It was just bad luck, bad timing,” Bado said.

The names of the driver and victim are not being released.
