The City of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda have each designated a set period for trick-or-treaters to go door-to-door Saturday.
The hours are suggested in order to help keep kids safe and cut down on late comers knocking on residents’ doors at odd hours.
North Tonawanda has designated a period between 5 and 8 p.m. and advises parents to plan costumes that are bright and reflective to avoid accidents. Further, a city press release suggests outfitting kids with flashlights and proper identification including name, address and phone numbers.
In the City of Tonawanda, police say Halloween revelers should confine their trick or treating to between 6 and 8 p.m.
When asked whether the hours would be strictly enforced, City of Tonawanda Police Lt. Fred Foels said the idea is to keep kids safe and respect senior citizens or other residents who may go to bed earlier.
As always, parents are encouraged to inspect the candy their children collect prior to consumption.
