The Lumberjacks have cut down their nemesis.
North Tonawanda is heading back to the Section VI Class AA championship next week at Ralph Wilson Stadium, defeating the defending state champs Orchard Park, 21-7 Friday night at the Lumberjacks Sports Complex.
Joe Montesanti scampered 49 yards to the end zone in the first quarter and Mike Tuzzo found Aaron Davis for a second quarter TD to give the Jacks a 14-0 lead at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Quakers threatened midway through the fourth quarter, but Darrick Bloomfield picked off a pass, preserving the shutout.
Tom Sell gave the Jacks a 20-0 lead with about two minutes remaining, running into the end zone from 26 yards out, and the extra point made it 21-0.
Orchard Park scored in the final minute to ruin the shutout bid. More details to follow.
