LOCKPORT: Passenger tells detectives about hit-run

A second potential suspect gave a statement to detectives Friday about this week’s fatal hit-and-run crash.

But police won’t say if they are any closer to finding out exactly what happened Tuesday night, when Adam Mottorn, 17, was killed on Porter Street.

Detectives said the statement came from the passenger who was in the vehicle that allegedly struck and killed Mottorn. The statement was made in the presence of the man’s attorney, police said.

Det. Lts. Scott Seekins and John Yotter said the meeting with the possible suspect was arranged by assistant district attorneys Doreen Hoffman and Tim Lundquist.

The man police talked to was riding in Anthony J. Cescon’s green S-10 pickup truck on the night of the fatal crash.

Police and Hoffman said they are not releasing any information on the statements made by the passenger or on who he is.

Cescon, 17, allegedly told police he met the victim on Porter Street to get marijuana. Police say Cescon told them he planned all along to flee without paying for the drugs, but that the crash that followed was an accident.

Capt. Richard Podgers said the victim fell under the wheels of the vehicle when Cescon fled. Mottorn was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Podgers said besides the three parties involved, there is one 40-year-old neighbor who witnessed the entire event.
