NORTH TONAWANDA: Meadow Dr. Dunkin Donuts re-opens

Residents who enjoy the Dunkin Donuts chain may be pleased to see one of its nearby branches didn’t close after all.

The drive-though and sit-down restaurant at 255 Meadow Drive reopened after about eight weeks of remodeling, according to a press release sent on behalf of franchise owner Paul Orsino.

The official re-opening was Sept. 15.

“I moved here with my wife Susan from Connecticut to buy this franchise back in 1997. We’ve invested a lot of resources to continually improve our customers’ experience, and we are so pleased to have become part of the North Tonawanda community,” the press release has Orsino as saying.

Information on the branch indicates the facility has been updated, including the company’s new line of toasted sandwiches and “DDSMART,” a health centered alternative menu in addition to the standard coffee and bakery fare. The new “better-for-you” options must, according to the public relations firm that issued the release, contain either 25 percent fewer calories, 25 percent less sugar, fat, saturated fat or sodium and/or contain ingredients that are “beneficial.”

Orsino owns and operates four other stores and has plans for another in the Town of Ransomville. Branches also are located in Wheatfield, Niagara Falls, Sanborn and the City of Tonawanda.

The chain is the No. 1 seller in the United States of hot and iced coffee by the cup.
