Nearly $500,000 will be coming to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department to help officials locate, arrest, and prosecute child sexual predators and enforce state sex offender registration laws, according to the office of U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y.
The U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services will award $499,971 through the Child Sexual Predator Program.
“This funding is a critical step in helping to provide the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department with the tools and resources they need to continue to protect our children from sexual predators,” Clinton said in a news release. “We must do everything possible to help guard our children from those who would do them harm, and this grant is an important investment in their safety and well-being.”
According to the Department of Justice, this initiative is designed to support partnerships between state or local law enforcement agencies and their district U.S. attorneys’ offices.
