Young also sought in Falls

— — The man that Town of Tonawanda police would like to talk to following Wednesday night’s carjacking at the Noco Express mart on Sheridan Drive at Parker Boulevard is also wanted for questioning in Niagara Falls.

Police are looking for Gregory Allen Young Jr. as a person of interest in the carjacking incident, but he’s also a suspect in a bank robbery that occurred last Friday at the Citizen’s Bank on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Cataract City.

Young’s criminal history doesn't end there. Police said it dates back to the early ’90s with a string of arrests surrounding stolen cars. More recently, he also faces charges relating to domestic violence and is wanted on a criminal contempt charge by the Erie County Sheriff’s Department.

Niagara Falls Detective Capt. William Thomson first identified Young in surveillance video taken at last Friday’s robbery.

“The pictures of the robber were put out and we got 10 calls and four of those people identified him as Gregory Allen Young Jr.,” Thomson said.

Wednesday, Niagara Falls police saw surveillance video from the carjacking incident. The detectives contacted the Tonawanda police to let them know that it could also be Young in the video.

A woman inside the car was forced out of the vehicle at gunpoint. She was not injured in the incident.

Thomson said Falls police made the connection when they got a tip just after the carjacking that Young had been dropped off by a friend just a few miles from the NOCO gas station. Now, the Tonawanda police are calling Young a person of interest in their case.

“Just based on the circumstance of their case and the appearance of their suspect and our suspect and thought this may be your guy. We don’t have anything definitely connecting this Gregory Allen Young Jr. to our crime. However, we’re looking into the possibility that it does have Tonawanda connections,” Lt. Nick Bado with Tonawanda Police said.

A recent tip now has police looking southward. They think Young may be headed to Georgia to see his father.

Young is described as a white male, 31 years old and about 200 pounds.

The car that was taken Wednesday, which Young may still be driving, is a red 2008 Ford Focus with chrome door handles. The license plate is a New York registration, DLX-3618.

Police say Young is armed and dangerous. If spotted, he should not be approached. Instead, call the Town of Tonawanda Police at 879-6613.
