Tonawanda News — Probation violation nets rapist state prison time
LOCKPORT — A Niagara Falls man on 10 years probation for having sex with a City of Lockport girl under the age of 15 was sentenced Thursday to prison for violating that probation.
Roy Davenport, of Pierce Avenue, was sentenced by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III to four years in state prison with 10 years of post-release supervision.
A report from probation said Davenport was a serious flight risk, failed to appear at a court hearing in May and even taunted probation officers. Davenport offered to surrender to probation then would not show up to the meeting. A level 2 sex offender, Davenport did not register as a sex offender.
Davenport was sentenced in 2011 for third-degree rape.
In another county court case, Matthew A. Venne of Newfane was sentenced to two years in state prison and three years of post-release supervision by Judge Sara S. Farkas.
Venne, 24, pleaded guilty last year to second-degree attempted burglary but was admitted to the court’s judicial diversion drug program. He failed to complete the program.
Venne stole prescription medication from an elderly woman’s mobile home.
