Buffalo Sabres center Derek Roy signed autographs Monday evening at an AT&T store on Sheridan Drive in the Town of Tonawanda.
Roy’s appearance was scheduled to promote the company’s holiday “Text to Give” donation drive benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Buffalo.
Jointly sponsored by the Sabres and AT&T, hockey fans can text the word SABRES to 50555 to donate $5 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo, through Dec. 22.
Proceeds will go toward the purchase of holiday presents for children in the 13 Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo locations.
Fans who donate during any Sabres game throughout the promotion will be automatically registered to win a chance to skate at First Niagara Center, a press release issued Monday by the event’s sponsors indicates.
“We are extremely fortunate to have the Buffalo Sabres and AT&T as part of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo family,” Chief Professional Officer of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Buffalo Diane L. Rowe said. “Their continued generosity will allow us to bring joy and security to the thousands of children we serve and who count on the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo as a constant, stable environment in their life.”
Sabres winger Nathan Gerbe will be making a similar appearance on Wednesday, at the AT&T Store at 3505 Amelia Drive in Orchard Park.
