TUESDAY: Feds seize western NY medical company's assets (6:29 p.m.)

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) _ The government has seized cars, bank accounts and other assets worth more than $400,000 from the owner of a medical imaging firm suspected of selling unauthorized copyrighted software.

Christopher Boyd, president and owner of B&L; Medical in the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga, allegedly sold copies of medical imaging software owned by GE Health Care, MedWeb and other companies to numerous medical groups over the last six or seven years, according to affidavits submitted by FBI and IRS agents.

The company grossed more than $7 million, much of which came from the improper sales, Assistant U.S. Attorney Martin Littlefield said.

Telephone messages left for Boyd at his home and B&L; Medical Tuesday were not returned.

No criminal charges had been brought Tuesday against Boyd or his company, though an investigation was under way. Several search warrants have been executed over the last 12 months, authorities said.
