NIGHT & DAY: Hop Aboard the Art Express at the Castellani

“Art Express,” will be offering family workshops at 2 p.m. Saturdays through April at the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University.

The workshops begin with storytelling in the galleries, followed by a tour of selected artworks and finally a trip to the classroom for art projects.

The price is $3 for non-members $2 for members. The program fee includes instruction and all materials.

February and March workshops are inspired by the exhibition “Raw Vision: Selections from the permanent collection.”

The “Art Express” family workshops require adult supervision. Call 286-8200 to reserve a space.

The workshops will run each Saturday through April 24.



THEATER

‘Love Letters,’ for Valentine’s Day

“Love Letters,” a 1990 Pulitzer prize-winning drama featuring a life-long exchange of love letters, will be performed by the Niagara Regional Theatre Guild.

Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

A special dinner theater event will be held Saturday starting with dinner at 5:30 p.m. at Banchette by Rizzo’s, at 550 North French Road in Amherst. The performance of “Love Letters” will follow at the Cardinal O’Hara Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.

The $25 cost per person includes both dinner and the play, by reservation only.

Tickets for all performances are $14 general admission, $13 seniors and students, and $10 for children 16 and under.

LEWISTON

Step into ballet classes

The Lewiston Council on the Arts is hosting an adult beginning ballet course teaching the fundamental techniques of ballet, while increasing muscle strength, stamina and flexibility. Loretta Frankovitch teaches the class that’s held every Thursday through March 25. The class runs from 9:15 until 10:15 a.m. at the Lewiston Opera Hall and costs $10 per class or $90 pre-paid for the entire session and for art council members.

The studio will also be open to work out on Tuesdays during the same timeframe, however, beginners will follow a ballet video that will cost $5 per class or $40 pre-paid for the entire nine-week session and for art council members.

Participants will need a pair of ballet shoes and workout clothes. Leggings and tights are fine but no sweat pants should be worn to the classes.
