Andrew Kovel

NORTH TONAWANDA — Andrew Kovel, 88, of North Tonawanda, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, after a brief illness. Andrew was a veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific with the 245th Field Artillery Battalion Americal Division. Andy was the founder of KVL Acoustical Corporation which was a commercial drywall and acoustical business based in North Tonawanda. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 66 for over 60 years.

He is survived by his longtime companion, former North Tonawanda City Alderwoman Sara Hood; five children, Kip (Marian Van Curen), Kennedy, NY, Mark (Geri), Matthews, NC, Scott (Liz), Buffalo, NY, Kevin (Lori), Midland, NC, and Jill (Dan) Chiacchia, Hamburg, NY; his former wife, Janet Kovel, Williamsville, NY; a sister, Lydia Bowers, Slippery Rock, PA; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Viewing and services will be held Wednesday, January 31st, from 1 to 4 PM at the Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. 3rd Street, Jamestown, NY.
