William Raymond Welch, Jr.

BUFFALO — William Raymond Welch, Jr., of Tonawanda, passed away October 7, 2012 in Buffalo General Hospital, following a brief illness.

Mr. Welch was born September 24, 1930 in Kenmore, son of the late William Sr. and Olive (nee Smith) Welch.

Mr. Welch was a US Army veteran. He was a second lieutenant serving as a training officer at Camp Roberts in California.

Mr. Welch was a senior laboratory technician. He retired from Blaw-Know and had also worked for DuPont and American Standard.

He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Tonawanda, president of the board of directors of North Tonawanda Meals on Wheels, president of Twin City Community Outreach, and a former member of American Legion Post #264.

Beloved husband of Frances Joy (nee LoBello) Welch; dearest father of Pamela S. Hill, Melissa (John) Ramsell, Timothy A. Welch (John Winters), Bethany L. Webber and the late William III (Jeannette M.) Welch; devoted grandfather of Yvonne, Marvin, Gwendolyn, Timothy, Mary Beth, Raquel, Elissa, William IV and Katherine; also survived by five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services with military honors         THURSDAY at 10 AM in Elmlawn Cemetery. (Please assemble at Delaware Ave. gate.) A     memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM THURSDAY from First Presbyterian Church, 149 Broad Street, Tonawanda. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels. Arrangements by Wattengel Funeral Home.
