Joseph L. Warthling, DDS

GETZVILLE —  

Joseph L. Warthling, DDS, age 87, of the City of Tonawanda, died on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Beechwood Residence in Getzville. He was born in Buffalo, NY, son of the late Joseph A. and Elsie (Flood) Warthling. A 1943 graduate of Tonawanda High School, Canisius College and UB Dental School. He established his practice, Joseph L. Warthling, DDS in 1954, in the City of Tonawanda, working until he retired 1992. He was a member of Twin City Dental Society, 8th District Dental Society, Twin City Council 413 Knights of Columbus and St. Francis of Assisi Church. Joseph was a former member of the Tonawanda Youth Board, was instrumental in bringing the Youth Court to existence in Tonawanda, and in forming Tonawanda American Little League Baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie (nee Holler) Warthling; father of Michael J. (Cynthia) Warthling of Tonawanda, Mary Beth (Daniel) Stonemetz of Murfreesboro, TN, Sharon (Michael) Socie of Sanborn, NY, Craig (Marlene) Warthling of Sanborn, NY, Maureen Evans (Jeffrey Toth), Monica (the late Michael) McInnis, Joseph L. (Linda) Warthling, Jr., and Shawn P. (Annette) Warthling, all of of Tonawanda, Janine Warthling of Kenmore, NY; and his son-in- law, Barry Evans of Tonawanda. Also survived by 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, January 29th at 10 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 150 Broad St., in the City of Tonawanda. The Rev. Michael Uebler will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Francis Chapel Columbarium. Memorial contributions in the name of Joseph L.
