Melvina H. Goerss

NORTH TONAWANDA —  

Melvina H. (nee Buike) Goerss, age 88, November 12, 2012. Wife of the late Paul Goerss, who died in 1982. Daughter of the late Edward and Ella (Karre) Buike. Beloved mother of Edward Goerss, Leonard (Valerie) Goerss and Daniel Goerss. Grandmother of Bradford Goerss of Valencia, Spain; Douglas (Sabrina) Goerss of Taswell, Indiana; Catherine (David) Goerss-Murphy of North Wales, PA; and Christine (Donald) Goerss-Barton; Great-grandmother of Julia, Anna, Brennan and Nathaniel.
Melvina was a longtime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (E. Felton). She was actively involved in Bible study with the women of the church, a former Sunday School teacher and substitute musician. Melvina enjoyed reading, needlework, crossword puzzles, computers and her canine companion, Taz.
Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Thursday from 7-9 PM and on Friday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 AM, the Rev. Janet Griffiths will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice or the charity of one's choice.
