Allen L. Sprenger

GOSHEN, IN — Allen L. Sprenger, age 88, of Goshen, IN, formerly of North Tonawanda, September 24, 2012, at his home. He was born June 3, 1924 in North Tonawanda, NY to Walter and Mabel (Reick) Sprenger. On September 11, 1948, in North Tonawanda, he married Norma L. Freck. She died on December 26, 2008 in Elkhart, IN.  

Surviving are two sons, Daniel Sprenger of Tennessee and Mark (Darvene) Sprenger of New Jersey; two daughters, Deborah (Melvin) Camburn of Michigan and Denise (Daniel) Balmer of Indiana. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one brother, Kenneth (Betty) Sprenger of North Tonawanda, NY. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton Sprenger.

Allen was a US Navy veteran serving in WWII. He was a member of the VFW and a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Goshen, IN. Allen enjoyed carving, woodworking and gardening. He was a baker employed by the state of New York. He retired in 1987 and moved to Goshen in 1988.

Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Thursday from 1-3 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on    Thursday beginning at 3 PM, the Rev. Dr. A.W. Moldenhauer will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorial contributions may be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Guest register available at frettholdfuneralhome.com.
