Viola E. Thomas

NORTH TONAWANDA — Viola E. Thomas, of North Tonawanda, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at her home under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice.

She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on December 15, 1922, a daughter of the late Arthur and Elsie (Badrow) Licht.

Mrs. Thomas was employed with Bell Aircraft  during World War II and with the Grants store in North Tonawanda for many years, before retiring in 1975.

She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in North Tonawanda. Mrs. Thomas was an avid bingo player and enjoyed gardening.

She was the wife of the late Harold H. Thomas, who died in March of 1967.

Mrs. Thomas  is survived by a son, Daniel H. (Debra) Thomas of North Tonawanda; two granddaughters, Ashley (Christopher) Reimer and Danielle Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Elsie and Bryce Harold Reimer; a sister,  Vivian (Richard)  Chiarcossi; a  brother, Arthur (Agnes) Licht; a  brother-in-law, George Thomas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert Licht and Evelyn (Wilfred) Reist.

The family will be present on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and Thursday from 5-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. Funeral services will be held  on  Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 1208 Oliver Street,  North Tonawanda, with the Rev.  Mark Breese of Community Missions of Niagara Frontier officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Peter's United Church of Christ and Niagara Hospice. Interment at Wheatfield Cemetery, Town of  Wheatfield, NY.
