Archie E. Smith

LOCKPORT — Archie E. Smith, age 88, of North Tonawanda, February 19, 2013, in Briody Health Care Facility, Lockport. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran.  Archie had been a member of the former St. Joseph's R.C. Church and was currently a member of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Lockport. He retired as a Supervisor at Houdaile Industries in Akron, NY, after 35 years of service.  He was a past Commander of VFW Post 7545, Tonawanda. He was the husband of the late Monica (nee Berhalter) Smith, who died in 2011.

Dear father of David (Paula) Smith of Lockport and the late Paul E. Smith and the late Amy Smith; grandfather of Staci (John) Scherrer and Kristi (Chris) Fuerch; great-grandfather of Kimberly (Emmett) Henry, Jessica and Kirsten Scherrer, Gabrielle and Elizabeth Fuerch; great-great-grandfather of Anna Henry. Brother of Doris (late George) Schaffer of Satellite Beach, FL, Jean (Lewis) Bessy of East Aurora, Mildred (late Frank) Neil of Indian Harbor Beach, FL, Janet (William) Thiebolt of Tonawanda, and the late Helen (late Marshall) Buell and the late Betty (late Parnell) Franklin; uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the FRETTHOLD FUNERAL HOME INC., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11:30 AM from Our Lady of Czestochowa R.C. Church. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
