Dennis G. Gielow

TOWN OF WHEATFIELD — Dennis G. Gielow, of the Town of Wheatfield, October 6, 2012, peacefully, at home after a      courageous battle with mesothelioma. He was 65.

Dennis was a U.S. Army veteran and had recently retired from Colton RV. He was a hot rod enthusiast, a former northeast region representative of the GoodGuys Rod & Custom Association, and an avid NASCAR fan. He spent many years coaching with the Wheatfield Blades Hockey Association, as well as the Niagara Wheatfield High School hockey team. He was also an active member of the North Tonawanda B.O.A.T.S. organization and enjoyed skiing, golfing, boating, traveling and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Dennis and his wife, Linda, hosted many exchange students from all over the world,           including Marco from Italy and Torsten from Germany. For a number of years Dennis designed and built the stage sets for Starpoint High School musicals.

Beloved husband of Linda (Schueckler) and father of Michelle (Blake) Reeves of Unionville, Ontario; Jennifer (Paul) Kooney of Croton-on-Hudson, NY; and Jason (Renee) Gielow       of  Lockport, NY. Proud grandfather of Carter, Jonah, Colin, Jack, Lydia, Ava and Ella. Son of Albert and the late Rose of North Tonawanda. Brother of Beverly White and the "best uncle ever" to many nieces and nephews.   

Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda, on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on        Wednesday at 10 AM, at St. Jude the Apostle R.C. Church. Burial with military honors will take place at White Chapel Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
