Sound Off published June 14

Tonawanda News — I’m calling about the party at St. Francis this weekend. They are going to be blocking off Adam Street for the day, making all kinds of noise. People around my neighborhood are not going to be able to think all day, sleep, or do anything because there’s going to be nothing but noise. All these young people are going to be yelling and screaming, having a good time. Why can’t these people take it out to the country where there isn’t any homes for ten miles? I think it’s outrageous the city is letting them have this festival. Isn’t Canal Fest enough? Enough of these parties and bands, we are going to be hearing this music for five miles. It’s just a total disgrace, I remember when Tonawanda used to be a quiet city. Now it’s nothing but noise, I think the politicians should put an end to this.

Heard that another vote is scheduled for June (in Wheatfield). They are talking 5 to 7 percent raise still over the cap. Residents they just dont get it. People are tired with this tax increase year after year. People just do what you did on Tuesday, vote it down again. Check the New York state salaries these teachers get it’s out of control. Let the people be heard again and keep your money in your pockets and let them make more cuts. Keep the budget at 2 percent and let the board cut to get there.

Residents in Niagara Country, this is the web site that lists school teachers salaries under the Freedom of Information Act: http://rocdocs.democratandchronicle.com/database new york educator-salaries. this will show you why cuts needs to be made. Let the people talk at the vote. Publish this website to let the voters see how much teachers get paid. Why can’t these be put in the paper?

The teachers at North Tonawanda High School should get down on their hands and knees and thank the heavens above for the their teachers union. NTHS is now ranked 88th out of 100 in local school rankings. This is from the 2nd highest-paid teaching staff. The board of directors, administrators and teachers should be embarrassed by this result. If you can’t do the math You’re failing!

I will bet that the person who called in to complain about cooking outdoors Is the same type of person that screams for smaller government. It is a shame that people have to complain about everything. People are not intentionally trying to bother you, they are trying to enjoy the very short summer that we have here in WNY. They are spending quality time with their families and friends, you should try it sometime!
