Someone mentioned about the Walmart lawsuit that it was time for Mr. Budwey, et. al. to step aside and let progress happen. You hit the nail on the head. No progress in North Tonawanda because we have too many people determined to live in the past. Can’t tear down the Niagara Mohawk building on Robinson Street. Historic value. It’s a shell. Can’t have Walmart. Too much traffic. It could be a factory with tractor trailers and smoke stacks puffing all day. We don’t want progress, we want pity. Our taxes are too high ... what are we doing to stop them? Oh yeah, stopping progress.

Can’t believe someone is comparing opening a cafe inside of a store to building a Walmart. Wow! That’s stretching it a bit. And then they go on to say that this unnamed person “allowed” a dollar store to open. This person must have a lot of clout in the city to have such authority.

So you bought your groceries for the last time at Budwey’s. Now you can enjoy paying twice as much for your groceries at one of the bigger stores. You’re a fool!

I received recently a notice from the North Tonawanda code enforcement office which stated that I have an abandoned unregistered vehicle parked in my driveway. We have two cars in our driveway, one we drive daily and one that we use as a back up; they are both registered and inspected. Maybe the code enforcement officer needs to get off his lazy rear end and actually get out of his car and check to see if these vehicles he’s tagging are actually registered. Either that or get his vision checked. Maybe he should be more concerned about the falling-down houses along Oliver Street rather than wasting our tax money.

I would like to know why stoves are not included in the appliance rebate?
•••
Why can’t the City of Tonawanda officials put a freeze on spending and hiring? Other little cities and towns are doing it. I thought we bought new garbage trucks with new lifts so one man can do it? Well we still have a couple people per truck. Let a couple people go.

I got a kick out of the number of students on the honor roll at Tonawanda High School. It looks like the whole school is on it. What a joke. Oh that’s right, summer is coming. Glad I got out of the status quo school years ago, but then again, they must be on the same level as the Buffalo high schools.

There is a person in this neighborhood who leaves food out for the deer. If this person could realize the devastation caused by the deer being attracted to the food, maybe he/she would stop. Also, isn’t there an ordinance against feeding the deer in the City of Tonawanda?

I think the North Tonawanda school district should look into requiring school uniforms. I think if the school board members walked around the high school and saw how some of these students dress they’d be appalled, to say the least. No school dress code is being enforced. They should consider the pros and cons of bringing back school uniforms.
