Tonawanda News — With regard to the assertion that Republicans cheat, specifics would be of interest and it is too early to ascribe sainthood to all Democrats (perhaps starting with Tammany Hall). With the registration of pets, dead people and illegals by quota-driven Acorn workers, reported by diverse sources, and a former Acorn manager, asking for identification at the voting booth might be the right thing to do. The Pew Foundation reported a few months ago that about 2.8 million dead people were registered to vote in the U.S. An international storehouse of emails was broken into which revealed concern about voter fraud in 2008. And why was a Spanish company allowed to buy the U.S company that tallies presidential votes?

I’m watching TV, I think Obama and everyone in Washington D.C. should watch Distinguished Gentlemen. It shows us what we really think of Washington D.C. and our government.

Who is this person that’s trying to raise money for their cousin or someone that has cancer? Well sorry about that but why is it when people get sick now they’re all trying to raise money? I’m sure they have insurance and if they don’t have insurance there is Medicaid. You can get free medical care at ECMC. I’m sure there’s a place in Niagara County, so why would you give to people because they’re sick? We’ve had deaths in our family, because people were sick with cancer, but we’ve never had people donating money and things like that.

The Walmart in North Tonawanda is going to be hiring several people. How many of you people that hate Walmart, that were suing the city so many times, that every time you turned around they had something bad to say about Walmart, how many of you people are going to apply for jobs at that no-good store huh? I bet a lot of you, and I bet a lot of you are going to be shopping there too. Too bad they don’t take a survey at the door to see who lives in the North Tonawanda area so they wouldn’t be allowed in the store. I’d love to see that, especially that Budwey guy.

To the person in Thursday’s paper about Obama and why people aren’t hiring, well if you believe one-fifth of what Obama says you’d be better off. First, this four million jobs that he created: Lady, they are part-time and they are all gone. He lost all of those. He hasn’t really created a job since he’s been in office. No jobs. He’s been lying to everyone. Right in front of your faces on TV and you still can’t see it. How come the Democrats are loosing seats? Ask me that. I can go on and on but why are the people not hiring? I’ll tell you why. Because they don’t know under Obama with restrictions in health how much each individual is going to cost to employ in health care. Now do you understand why they’re not hiring people. Before you put an article like that in the paper, look into it first, would ya please? Good Day.

  • tucker, barb.jpg TUCKER: Old photos bring fun memories A while ago, two old photos were unearthed at the News, one of an unnamed Catholic priest and the other an overhead shot of an unknown parish. After showing the photos to the retired priests at the Cardinal O'Hara priests' residence and unable to determine who and where the photos came from, Ned Schimminger from the Historical Society of the Tonawandas took a look and could not help.

  • ADAMCZYK: Spurring the project along At a recent local presentation, an historian pondered Western New York's proclivity toward mouthing off, then doing nothing, as exhibited in announcing plans for a structure or a project, coming up with an "artist's representation" and having the plans fade into the netherworld of unfulfilled dreams.

  • OUR VIEW: Military sex assaults a national disgrace How is it possible that our nation's most powerful military leaders -- all men -- found the gumption to tell Congress there's nothing substantive to be done when 26,000 female enlistees were sexually assaulted last year?
