— — There was an article about the NT water bills being done by an outside company. I wonder what are the people at City Hall who work in the water department doing besides reading a newspaper and watching the TV. I think it’s time to outsource the whole total water department and have an outside company do their jobs. This is a disgrace.

Now that Spaulding Fibre has been knocked down, please put a Wegmans there. We need one really bad.

First liberals said that Bush's tax cuts were only for the rich. Now they say there is no movement in Congress to let ALL of Bush's tax cuts expire. So which is it? Were Bush's tax cuts just for the rich or were they for everyone?

In response to the motorcycle crash last week on Delaware and Morgan streets and Tuesday's crash at Delaware and Fletcher streets. The problem isn't just young inexperienced drivers on the roads in the city of Tonawanda it's mostly every driver in the city. I see more drivers that roll through stop signs instead of stopping for them. Don't they know that a stop sign means to "make a complete stop" then go when it is safe to keep going? Slowing down doesn't count, stop at the stop signs, people!

I’d like to see something new in the newspaper. How about a once-a-week column about random acts of kindness? People could call in and tell how someone did something special, or give suggestions on what we could do for others. I’m so sick of reading about negative news.

About the Riviera Theatre grant. It’s a $4.8 million expansion that plans to build a 20,000 square-foot addition which will be complete with roof-top terrace, banquet facility and theater. That is a grant from the Niagara Greenway Commission. That is from the power authority. Give the $5 million back and lower our electric rates instead!

Another black eye for the city of North Tonawanda. Can you believe people received a water bill for January through April for the second time? That had to be replaced for April through July. What kind of people are working here? Where does the firing line start?

•••

I can’t believe that people get their political news from the Fox channel, a channel that is bought and owned by the Republicans.

•••

Regarding moving North Tonawanda’s call center to Lockport, I think it’s a wonderful idea. It’s obviously a huge cost savings and the reason our chief of police is complaining that it doesn’t make sense is that he’s probably trying to pull something politically. It makes absolute sense to move this program to Lockport and save us taxpayers a bunch of money.

If you want to build something in downtown Buffalo at the Erie Basin Marina, why not a new football stadium? The stadium used to be part of the town. This stadium we have now is sitting in Orchard Park and has nothing to do with Buffalo. Put the Brickyard downtown!

Thank you very much to the gentleman who found my son’s cell phone on Fletcher Street and returned it to our home on Linwood Avenue. That was so nice.

If you keep taking signals down on Nash Road, it will become a regular speedway. Don’t forget: It’s still a city street, with side streets driveways and businesses.

I think the North Tonawanda school district should look into requiring school uniforms. I think if the school board members walked around the high school and saw how some of these students dress they’d be appalled, to say the least. No school dress code is being enforced. They should consider the pros and cons of bringing back school uniforms.
