I just received a letter from the home service, says water supply pipe information for homeowners in the NT area. They aren’t responsible for the water line, but they plant a tree in front of my house, which breaks the water line that comes to my house. And they expect me to pay for it? I’m telling you, when the water line breaks in front of my house and I have to replace it, I’m going to replace it myself. Then I’ll have a plumber come and connect it at the road. They can kiss off, because I’m not paying for a permit. I’m so fed up with this city.

Wanting to give sex offenders a lobotomy doesn’t make me better than them or you. The lobotomy is simply a cost-effective solution to a problem that people refuse to accept that we have. Your liberalism will not only bury our country some day, but will probably put sex offenders right next door to you. Guard your children well because your attitudes about punishment will endanger them very soon.

I’m a Leah Drive resident and every year at this time these football players — actually it’s their family members who drive them — think they own our road. They think they can park any place they want on Sundays, they think they can block our driveways, can turn around in our driveways. They think they can drive like animals and speed around. They think they can do whatever they want. I’m going to start giving the police their plate numbers. This neighborhood is getting sick of this. Why don’t you stick around and watch your kid play, instead of speeding away?

The Tonawanda Athletics program lost a great coach, again! My daughter played for the girls basketball program last year and they had an exceptional year. After a struggling season in years past, winning only two games a season, last year (there was) a complete turnaround (and) they finished 13-6. Great job, Tonawanda Athletics ... we let another great experienced coach get away from us. What do we have to do to keep good coaches around in this district?

I see that Tonawanda High is looking for a JV girls basketball coach — maybe this will give some of the whining parents and fans from last year who constantly complained about the coaching a chance to step up and apply for the job. If they don’t get a coaching job, maybe they can get an official’s job, since the best officials in the gym are always in the stands, too!

I have also noticed a total disregard for proper grammar lately. It is especially annoying when it is done by a newspaper columnist. One I have noticed a lot lately is, “There is a lot of people....". I’m wondering if grammar is no longer taught in the schools to make more time for sex education.

I think the North Tonawanda school district should look into requiring school uniforms. I think if the school board members walked around the high school and saw how some of these students dress they’d be appalled, to say the least. No school dress code is being enforced. They should consider the pros and cons of bringing back school uniforms.

Bob Confer, looks like you did get a little help, regarding your unexpected sights in Niagara. Personally I don’t feel imperiled by bobcats, bears and other wild animals. But I am afraid of you and opinions.

DUVALL: Immigration, not economy, could tip 2012 election
In a handful of swing states that will decide the election, immigration will play a large — perhaps even determining — role in whether Barack Obama gets another four years.
