SOUND OFF: Published October 20

Newsflash to the person complaining that the Republicans only want the health care reform and the president to fail because it's Obama's plan. It was the Democrats and the liberal far left who complained and undermined Bush and did everything they could to get him impeached, but there was no problem when it was him and it was being done, was it?

A caller asked how many people are running for mayor of NT? The answer is two. But when you vote for Larry Soos you get Jeff Mis. Two heads are better than one.

So many people are happy that so many streets are being paved, taxes lowered, a whole lot of good things going on in North Tonawanda. That’s great but it’s an election year. Duh! We’ll all be paying for this next year. Wait and see.

It amazes me, the stupidity of some people. I was heading down Walck Road on Friday at almost 11 a.m. A lady in a white Pontiac decided that I, and the car in front of me, weren’t moving fast enough. So, she passed us in the right turn only lane and decided to force me into oncoming traffic by forcing her way into my lane then getting right on the bumper of the car I was behind. I had to slam on the brakes, as I was laying on the horn, to get back into my lane before there was an accident. Then she proceeded to slam on the brakes in front of me at Walck and Zimmerman to try and get me to hit her. She must have been mad that she didn't cause an accident the first time.

I am appalled at the person who wrote into Sound Off about the elderly being selfish about the health care. My husband and I worked, paid taxes like most people. So because we are now on Social Security, we are selfish and living off other people! We do not receive public assistance. We do, however, pay high premiums for Medicare. We still pay co-pays for medicine and pay 20 percent on all doctor visits and medical treatments, which, by the way, are very costly. We are not getting a pay raise this year, but you probably will. Our Medicare premiums will go up, so we will be getting less money. You should be ashamed of yourself. You are disrespecting all the elderly including your own family members!

Escapee? Thank God it was not a murderer! Stop hiring family and look for quality employees! The city of Tonawanda should merge with the town. We could have better services, schools and lower taxes.

This is in response to the student at North Tonawanda High School who thinks that the parking lot at Zappers "should be used for picking up or dropping off students.” You are wrong! That parking lot is for the use of customers of Rite-Aid pharmacy, not for the convenience of parents who don't want to drive into the high school driveway.

If you keep taking signals down on Nash Road, it will become a regular speedway. Don’t forget: It’s still a city street, with side streets driveways and businesses.

I think the North Tonawanda school district should look into requiring school uniforms. I think if the school board members walked around the high school and saw how some of these students dress they’d be appalled, to say the least. No school dress code is being enforced. They should consider the pros and cons of bringing back school uniforms.
