SOUND OFF: Published July 2

China is taking our U.S. dollars to buy oil wells and gold mines. They are also making the biggest navy in the world so they can park their submarines right outside of our coastal areas. Meanwhile, Obama is letting our manufacturing go to China, along with his predecessor. Pretty soon we will be owned by the Chinese.

Attention Walmart shoppers; Thanks to you, China will soon be ruling the seven seas.

The woman who was serving hot dogs at her garage sale. Do you need a permit for that?

For eight years, President Bush was ridiculed, mocked, and disrespected by anyone with a microphone. Someone voices their negative opinion about Obama, and all of a sudden, there’s no tolerance for free speech suddenly. President Obama is not interested in bringing people together. He is pitting us against each other with his tax proposals, and his unending quest to fix everything today.

•••

I went into Family Dollar today and they have school supplies already for September. The kids haven’t even been out of school for two weeks yet! This is ridiculous. I can see maybe Aug. 1 or something like that but not now!

•••

The reason the kitchen door to the Tonawanda Senior Center is locked is people are stealing cooking utensils. We have to keep buying new ones and maybe this is a way to stop it.

•••

On Saturday, I rode my bicycle in the “Ride for Roswell.”  It was a for a great cause and I have to say, the people in the City of Tonawanda were great. They put up with thousands of bike riders disrupting their Saturday morning and were clapping and cheering us on on Broad Street. There even was a woman who had ice water for the riders. Citizens of Tonawanda, you made me proud to live here.

I think the North Tonawanda school district should look into requiring school uniforms. I think if the school board members walked around the high school and saw how some of these students dress they’d be appalled, to say the least. No school dress code is being enforced. They should consider the pros and cons of bringing back school uniforms.
