The person who thinks Jon Stewart's news is "truly the news" must also believe everything on the show Saturday Night Live. Stewart is a comedian and his show is on Comedy Central. It is made up stuff of real news.

To the Tonawanda DPW, thanks for moving the stop sign to the corner of Tussing Lane and Delaware Street. It now makes sense.

In all my time that I have been reading Sound Off I came to one conclusion that the biggest complainers here are mostly in North Tonawanda. If things are that bad in NT, pack up and move.

To the person that suggested Family Guy be taken off of TV, if you don't like what's on TV don't be a party pooper for everyone else. Change the channel, turn off the TV or get rid of every TV in your home all together.

People get their news from Comedy Central and they think they are well informed? Maybe that's what's wrong with this country. Maybe that's why the same crooks get elected all of the time.

This is an answer to the misinformed person who said that the tax rates on virtually all Americans will rise with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts. According to Factcheck.org, this is NOT true. It is highly unlikely that tax rates will rise unless you are among the lucky few who earn over $250,000 a year. Obama has repeatedly assured voters of this, and there is no movement in Congress to let ALL the tax cuts expire.

Why is it most of your out-of-town writers can’t get the Gratwick-Riverside Park name right? Barbara Tucker is the one who gets the name right. Let her straighten them out. They all leave out the name Riverside.

On Aug. 22 I was driving by Niawanda Park and I couldn’t figure it out. They advertised a bike show but it looked like a police convention. Did something happen that wasn’t reported in the paper? There must have been 20 policemen down there.

Why is Islam the only religion protected and defended by the American left? Have Liberals ever stood up for any other religion? Now Obama’s State Department seems to be anxious about sending Muslims abroad with taxpayer dollars to speak to Muslims about being Muslims in America! What’s next? This hope and change has failed to fix anything and may have made things worse. It’s failure that brings a perception of weakness and incompetence.

Question for the masses: When the American Indians want something, they use the sovereign nation card. If in fact they are sovereign, why are local police, who are not part of their country, allowed on their premises? Also, if they are a true sovereign nation, where is INS and customs when you pull out of one of their gas stations to see if in fact you are a citizen of that sovereign nation. I guess you just can’t have it both ways.

ADAMCZYK: The endless autumn
By the time this prattle gets turned into ink on paper, the reader should be expected to be sitting in cold temperatures and under several inches of lake effect-produced snow.

DUVALL: Church shouldn’t be forced to offer birth control
In announcing that the federal government will require religious institutions to provide free access to birth control, President Obama touched off a heated debate about religious freedom — one he is likely to lose.

I think the North Tonawanda school district should look into requiring school uniforms. I think if the school board members walked around the high school and saw how some of these students dress they’d be appalled, to say the least. No school dress code is being enforced. They should consider the pros and cons of bringing back school uniforms.

Long ago, in a much simpler time, ticket sales accounted for the majority of revenues for professional football teams.

LEFFLER: Don’t wait to be productive
I’ve always been a bit of a night person. It started in college when I would stay up all hours of the night — doing homework. Or something.
