n Niagara River Anglers Association will hold their bi-monthly general membership meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. at the LaSalle Sportsmen’s Club, 2445 Tuscarora Road, Niagara Falls. Guest speaker will be Tommy O. giving a talk about his recent trip to Alaska.

n Firearms hunter safety training class at Little Ridge Archery, 8862 Ridge Road, Gasport from 6 to 10 p.m. Parts 2 and 3 will be held Oct. 21 and 23, also 6 to 10 p.m. Class size is limited to the first 35 students. n Trapping season for raccoon, fox, skunk, opossum, coyote and weasel opens for Western New York.

n Furbearer hunting season opens for raccoon, fox, opossum, and weasel.

n Lake Ontario plains turkey season opens (including Niagara and Orleans counties). This is open through Nov. 6.
