Today

n Iroquois Arms Collectors Gun Show at AMVETS Post 26, 600 Ward Road, North Tonawanda starting at 9 a.m.

n Pheasant season opened this weekend and will continue to be open, along with the Southern Zone archery big game season. Consult the hunting regulations guide or the DEC website at www.dec.ny.gov for closing dates and other details.

Monday

n Niagara River Anglers Association will hold their bi-monthly general membership meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. at the LaSalle Sportsmen’s Club, 2445 Tuscarora Road, Niagara Falls. Guest speaker will be Tommy O. giving a talk about his recent trip to Alaska.

n Firearms hunter safety training class at Little Ridge Archery, 8862 Ridge Road, Gasport from 6 to 10 p.m. Parts 2 and 3 will be held Oct. 21 and 23, also 6 to 10 p.m. Class size is limited to the first 35 students. n Ducks, coots, mergansers and Canada/snow goose seasons open in the Western Zone for waterfowl and the South Zone (which includes Niagara County) for geese.

n Northern Zone regular big game season opens.

Sunday

n Bobcat hunting and trapping opens in the Adirondacks and Catskills.

n Trapping season for raccoon, fox, skunk, opossum, coyote and weasel opens for Western New York.

n Furbearer hunting season opens for raccoon, fox, opossum, and weasel.

n Lake Ontario plains turkey season opens (including Niagara and Orleans counties). This is open through Nov. 6.
