Customs officers arrest wanted child molester
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents arrested a man wanted in Illinois for aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child.
CBP officers said they were notified on Wednesday by Canada Border Services Agency that Mohammed Shakeel, 48, a United States citizen from Niles, Ill., was being returned to U.S. because he was not eligible to enter their country.
Shakeel had attempted to enter Canada on Tuesday, arriving on a flight that landed at Pearson International Airport in Toronto. He was detained by Canadian authorities because of his active warrant in the states.
After being ordered deported, Shakeel was returned to the U. S. and taken into custody by agents at the Rainbow Bridge.
CBP officers conducted record checks which revealed that Shakeel was the subject of a no bond, nation-wide felony warrant issued May 15, by the Glen Ellyn, Ill. Police Department. The warrant charges Shakeel with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child.
