How can a union town like North Tonawanda want the world's largest non-union corporation to come to our town? Many residents of our city are union employees of Delphi, Tonawanda Engine, teachers unions, hospital workers, college and university employees, government employees, Teamsters, etc.? Last week CNBC showed a feature about the “new” Walmart. Walmart doesn’t want unionization of their employees. Walmart had record profits in these tough economic times. On Feb. 19 the News said Walmart U.S. sales were down for the third consecutive quarter to $70.9 billion. Yet it had a 22 percent increase in earnings, mostly from China and overseas stores. Walmart's profits are not finding their way into associates’ pay checks.

This is about the assault of the student in the middle school of North Tonawanda. For the amount of school taxes we pay this is ridiculous. The parents should be held accountable, the school should be held accountable, the teacher or counselor that said the child had nothing to worry about should be held accountable, and I think someone should lose their job! This is not right. This kid could have been seriously hurt! He is going to suffer mentally for the rest of his life because of this incident. You teachers, counselors and principals need to start doing your jobs! Watch what is going on in the school instead of having conferences and days off.

Two weeks ago I bought my groceries at Budwey’s for the last time. The amount of money that the city has spent on lawsuits filed by Budwey’s against Walmart have reached the point where I am no longer interested in doing business at that location.
