Tonawanda News — To the Sept. 7 grandparent asking why Obama does not lower tuition: You do realize colleges are either state run or private right? Please tell me you don’t honestly think the president controls the cost of a higher education.

I find the Sept. 9 student who is voting for Obama due to his student loans comical. So at 25 million people out of work and an unemployment rate above 8 percent, you can focus on finding WHAT job? And you don’t want the “big corporations” coming after the money you owe them? Didn’t you sign a promissory note that details you will pay them back, how much and when? Of course you did, but like most liberals, you want the free handout without any consequences.

Walmart is open and I hope that’a good thing for North Tonawanda. I also saw Sen. Maziarz was there to cut the ribbon. This is highly ironic because it was said for the record by a former councilman that the good senator told him to stall the opening so Mayor Soos wouldn’t be in office. Since Mayor Soos started the process to get them to come to North Tonawanda, was he even invited? Seems like the senator is meddling in North Tonawanda for a good photo-op at election time.

I miss the old days when Officer Nathan was around. Coming home from work tonight I can’t tell you how many violations I saw. Speeding, following too closely, cell phones. It proved NT police aren’t enforcing traffic laws the way they’re supposed to. At least with Nathan people stopped at stop signs because they didn’t know if he was around the corner watching them.

This summer, City of Tonawanda has had not one fun thing. No bands, no events except Canal Fest, and they tried like heck to get rid of that. I guess this mayor doesn’t like enjoyment for the residents. It used to be fun in the summer, listening to bands and taking a walk downtown. Now there’s nothing. North Tonawanda has an awful lot going. People can go there and have fun. They’re not so uptight.

It’s disgusting enough how much our school tax bills go up. And it’s bad enough we have to buy own kids’ school supplies, but we have to supply the entire class? The crayons aren’t supposed to be labeled so they can be used by the entire class? This is absolutely greedy and ridiculous.

To the person who’s a Vietnam veteran and 55 years old, I think you’re missing a couple years. At least eight or nine years, try 64 or 65. You must be one of those Obama guys. You can’t even add or subtract? Too bad.

So the politicians across the country and especially in New York want to steal more money? When you don’t deliver the public service and write laws and pass regulations for the people who got you into office and not for the public. We need to hire politicians who know what public service is. Fire them all. And no raise.
