Tonawanda News — Do you want to know what the Republican party believes in? Here is just one example. In Missouri, the Republican candidate for Senate, Todd Akin, claimed their is a difference between legitimate rape and other rapes. He claims that “a woman can’t get pregnant if she is raped because if it is a legitimate rape a woman’s body has ways to shut that whole thing down.” Apparently he thinks that a woman’s body secretes a magic serum that will block her from getting pregnant during a rape. This idiot is on the science committee in Congress. Republicans are backing him! What in the world is happening? This man has no place in any form of governance.

We get a new culinary school, millions to the UB & housing- all taxpayer funded goodies. That’s not free market progress, it requires more money from you & me to support bigger government. Nothing changes in New York.

Listening to Mitt Romney talking about providing seniors with a check to pay for Medicare or another plan of their choice, I would like to know if he has a clue that Medicare doesn’t cover much, if anything, fully, nor do other plans. Does this man with his head in the clouds realize there are co-payments? Does he realize that those receiving Social Security already have their Medicare premium taken out of the monthly Social Security -- and we have all contributed throughout our entire working careers toward paying for both Social Security and Medicare? Does he realize that those of us with Medicare Advantage plans using private insurers still have to pay for Medicare and, more often than not, have to pay another premium for the Advantage program and then still pay the co-payments?
