Dante Bono scored 11 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, and collected 10 rebounds for the game, as the Kenmore East boys basketball team edged Lewiston-Porter 51-49 in Niagara Frontier League action Tuesday night.
Doing his part on senior night, Brian Doyle hit three of his four 3-pointers in the third quarter. Josh Orta added 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs (5-12 overall, 2-11 NFL).
Patrick Stevens scored 14 points and Marc Morreale added 11 for Lew-Port (6-9, 4-8), which had a chance to tie the game at 51 with nine seconds remaining, but Morreale missed a pair of free throws.
Grand Island 79, Lockport 67
Jonas Stalyga had 34 points as the Vikings defeated the Lions. Bobby Ross added 14 points for Grand Island (10-5, 8-4), while Sean Smith had 31 points for Lockport (7-4).
Ken West 57, N-Wheatfield 49
Wade Josiah led the Blue Devils with 25 points. Kyle Henry had 17 points for Niagara-Wheatfield (2-11).
Tonawanda 59, Eden 33
Kyle Schroeder had 16 points and the Warriors used seven 3-pointers to notch their second win in ECIC IV action. Carlton Hess added 10 points for Tonawanda (4-12 overall, 2-8), while Steve Stich had five assists with five points.
St. Joe’s 72, Maple Grove 44
Kyle Wojciechowski buried five of his seven 3-point attempts as the Marauders rolled to an impressive nonleague win over Maple Grove.
Connor Rehbuam added 12 points and 11 rebounds for St. Joe’s (10-10), and Chad Kelly had 11 points; Brian Killeen added 10 points. Steven Moser had seven assists.
For Maple Grove (9-6), Kevin McElrath had 18 points and Chris Secky added 12.
Cardinal O’Hara 63, Walsh 56
Brendan Brady (22 points), Dazmond Knight (14 points) and Dereon Washington (12) lifted O’Hara to the win. For Walsh, Ryan Whelpley scored a game-high 28. O’Hara moved to 4-16 overall.
Junior Varsity
n Jay Scarbrough had 18 points and Jameere Ollison added 16 for the Falls in its 60-40 win over NT.
Girls Basketball
Kenmore East 55, Lew-Port 38
Joelle Pollak and Jordyn Broas each had 19 points on the night as the Bulldogs cruised after staking themselves a 21-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Nikki Mokhiber led Lew-Port (9-7 overall, 6-6 NFL) with 10 points.
Kenmore East (14-3, 10-3) hosts its senior night on Friday against Niagara Falls.
N-Wheatfield 54, Ken West 39
Stephanie Schmidt (16 points, 15 rebounds) and Erika Furdak (14 points, 13 rebounds) each recorded a double-double for Wheatfield in its NFL win. Kailey Walck added 10 points, five steals and three assists for the Falcons, who move to 9-7 overall and 6-6 in league play. Jenna Panepinto scored 14 for West (7-9, 4-9).
N. Falls 48, North Tonawanda 25
Lakea Crittenden scored 20 points and had eight steals as the Falls picked up its first NFL win of the season. Also for the Wolverines (2-14 overall, 1-11 NFL), Mari Russell had 12 points and seven assists and Toloria Gamble pulled down 11 rebounds.
Mary Ellen Ringler led NT (2-14, 1-12) with nine points.
Barker 39, CSAT 34
Aileen Hinton took game high scoring honors with 21 for Barker (3-10) which put a lock on the victory by making good on 10 of 14 fourth quarter free throw attempts. CSAT fell to 1-12.
