The Tonawandas USBC Bowling Association held its annual membership meeting recently at the Dom Polski Hall in North Tonawanda.
Association President Lyle Bruce Harrison presided as five directors were elected to the board and winners of special seasonal awards were recognized and prize checks and awards from the annual city championship tournament were presented.
Elected to two-year terms to the board were Lauren Sutton, Kathleen Slayton, Ray Jaskowiak Jr., Fran Bax and Ken Kreger. Event chairman Paul Wasiewicz said that $4,000 was generated from the group’s 8th annual Bowl for the Cure fundraiser at Island Lanes that was divided with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Roswell Cancer Instituite.
More than 150 gift baskets were donated to the fundraiser. Harrison said that four youth and six adult tournaments held during the season were successful. Twelve $100 youth scholarships were presented at a special youth awards banquet. Charles Gueli thanked all the bowlers who donated over 100 bags of food items during the season that supported the North Tonawanda Inter-Church Food Pantry.

Certificate of Merit Award — Men’s High Average — Mike Zarcone-244; high series — Brandon Digati-867; high game-numerous 300s; Women-high average — Michelle Sterner-227; high serie — Michelle Sterner-811; High Game-300s — Michelle Sterner, LaRae Hens-Bryant, Kimberly Wangler, Kathy Geissler; Youth-Girls — High Average-Angelia Aquilina-202; High Series-Angelia Aquilina-731; High Game — Hannah Mosher-258; Boys High Average — Joe Zack-203; High Series — Kevin Bianco-753; High Game — Kevin Bianco-290.
Senior Sportsmanship Award winners were Jack Fink and Charles Gueli, while Gueli also earned TONUSBC Director of the Year.
Following award presentations, city tournament checks totaling $13,300 and awards were presented.
