The streak continues for the Tonawanda girls bowling team.
Erin McDonald rolled a 224-620 and Trista Davis had a 236-611 as Tonawanda won its fourth consecutive ECIC III title with a 5-2 win over Maryvale Monday at Airport Lanes. The victory extends the Warriors’ ECIC III win streak to 38 matches.
Dawn Carter (205-591) and Cassie Marcaccio (226-568) also had solid efforts for the Warriors, who won the pincount 4,254-3,987 and finish the regular season 9-0 in the league.
Mary Melanie Hannon led Maryvale (6-3) with a 226-622.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lackawanna 56, Tonawanda 48
The Warriors gave a good effort against the first place team in ECIC IV but couldn’t finish it out. Jesse Lalka had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Steve Stich chipped in 10 points and six assists for Tonawanda (3-11, 1-8 ECIC IV), which led 26-15 at halftime. Lackawanna (11-4, 9-1) outscored THS 25-14 in the final quarter to pull away. Dondre Alexander led the Steelers with 18 points.
“We played real well, to have the best team on the rope,” THS coach Hank Hughes said. “We had trouble finishing. Our youth and inexperience maybe caught up to us.”
Starpoint 61, Lake Shore 53
Junior Cody Longwell had a career-high 18 points for Starpoint. “He played amazing,” veteran Spartans coach Dave Schopf said. “He was playing so good I had to go with the hot hand. He did a great job.”
Jon Corbi also had a nice night, netting 19 points and dishing out nine assists. Brendan Reinert chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds for Starpoint (6-8 overall, 4-5 ECIC II), which outscored the visiting Eagles 39-31 in the second half.
Erik Marx had a game-high 20 points for Lake Shore (4-5).
Boys Bowling
Tonawanda 6, Maryvale 1
Henry Wesoloski (254-636), Brad Bender (239-626) and Eric Hockenberry (211-611) helped the Warriors (7-2) to the ECIC III win. Darrell Brocato led Maryvale (6-3) with a 248-651. Tonawanda won the pincount 4,448-4,282.

Tonawanda welcomes four more on cherished Wall of Fame
Chris “Mr. Tonawanda” Slauson (Class of 1998), Tom Perkovich (’99), John White (’75) and Jim Keller (’54) were enshrined as part of the 2012 Tonawanda High School Athletic Wall of Fame class prior to Tonawanda’s 69-45 win over Eden Thursday night inside the George Miller Gymnasium.
