TOWN OF TONAWANDA — With ideal conditions for a mid-summer evening run, more than 120 participants took to the street recently in the third annual St. Christopher Summerfest 5K, with several locals posting strong finishes.

Robert Lingfenfelter of North Tonawanda had a standout day, as he topped the race walking event.

Michael Neumeister and his 10-year-old son Jacob finished the course side-by-side, crossing the finish line in an impressive 22:04

Meanwhile, sisters Jenny and Laura DelSignore of Tonawanda along with Maxime and Amanda Tresino of Clarence also took top honors in their age groups.

The course took runners on a scenic route alongside the Erie Canal on Creekside Drive in Tonawanda, and included experienced runners and novice runners of all age groups.

The overall event had a story-book finish, with  brother and sister, Matthew and Kathryn McMahon of Amherst, capturing the men’s and women’s side, respectively.

Summerfest 5K race directors Alan Jaenecke and Anna Voit said they were both extremely pleased with the turnout and community support.
