The visiting Tonawanda Warriors played to a scoreless tie after the first quarter, but gave up 28 points in the second quarter and couldn’t recover in a 53-0 Class B North loss to Alden on Friday night. Tonawanda lost three turnovers in the second quarter, all of which ended up as Alden touchdowns.
Matt Schwartz led the Bulldogs with 130 yards rushing on 18 carries. Schwartz rushed for two touchdowns and caught another. Tyler Stoldt went 5-for-8 for 112 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Alden (4-0 overall, 4-0 Class B North) was led on defense by Kory Ressler, who had 14 tackles.
Mike Carson rushed 13 times for 53 yards for Tonawanda (2-2, 2-2), while Alex Pickel led the Tonawanda defense with seven tackles.
“We lost some 1-on-1 battles,” Tonawanda coach Jason Beckman said. “They’re a very good football team. They hurt us on the ground and through the air.”
Depew 28, Lew-Port 6
Dan Gorski ran for a pair of scores and 120 yards on 16 carries to help the Wildcats secure the victory on their home field.
Down 14-0 at the start of the second half, the Lancers fumbled away their chance to get back into the game, losing one of three turnovers on the night. Depew (3-1 Class B North) capitalized with a one-yard score from Gorski, putting the visiting Lew-Port (1-3 overall, 1-2 NFL) in a whole it could not dig itself out of.
Down 28-0 in the fourth, the Lancers managed to get on the board on an eight-yard pass from Matt Cattarin to Josh Reed. Cattarin finished 19-of-34 on the game for 167 yards and the lone score. Alex Penders added 123 yards on the ground in the loss.
Wilson 26, Roy-Hart 0
On homecoming night at Walter J. Hutchison Athletic Field, Wilson senior tailback A.J. White (14 carries, 46 yards, 2 TDs) scored on second-quarter touchdown runs of 3 and 10 yards as the Lakemen earned teh Class C North win. Wilson (1-3, 1-2 Class C North) junior quarterback John Vincent (7-for-10, 117 yards, 2 TDs) tossed scoring passes of 14 and 39 yards in the win.
Dan Hartley and Jeff Swick both caught two passes for the Rams (0-4, 0-3). Senior workhorse Josh Foeller led Roy-Hart with 65 rushing yards on 26 carries.
Boys soccer
Ken East 5, Niagara Falls 0
Rob Flynn and Scott Flynn each had a pair of goals as the Bulldogs cruised to an easy Niagara Frontier League win. Cody Rouse added a goal for Kenmore East (7-1-2 overall, 5-0-2 NFL) while James Quinn had five saves to earn the shutout. Niagara Falls fell to 0-5-1.
Lockport 1, NT 1
Jimmy May scored on a free kick with three seconds left in the first half for Lockport to tie the game. Andrew Wackenheim had a breakaway goal early for North Tonawanda (5-4-1 overall, 4-3-1 NFL). The Lumberjacks got eight saves from Matt Mourgas, including a diving stop late on a strong shot by Lockport’s Andrew Granchelli. Chris Paradise made six saves for the Lions (8-3-1, 5-2-1).
Lew-Port 1, Niagara-Wheatfield 0
Max Braun scored the winning goal late in the first half on an assist from Mike Curatolo as the Lancers pulled out the Niagara Frontier League contest.
Matt Delmonte got the shutout for Lew-Port (7-2-2 overall, 3-2-2 NFL) with 10 saves.
Christian Warchocki was credited by Lancers coach Sam Ricotta with strong play in the midfield for N-W (5-4-3, 3-3-2).
Grand Island 3, Ken West 1
Erik Breier and Joe Fischer scored in the Vikings NFL win. Bobby Ross added a goal and an assist for GI (5-4-2 overall, 3-3-2 NFL), and Kolby Banker had a pair of assists. C.J. Brunner scored the lone goal for the Blue Devils (5-5-1, 2-5).
Starpoint 5, Pioneer 0
Sophmore Chris Kufchak scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season as Starpoint shutout Pioneer (1-9 overall, 0-8 ECIC III). Rich Barrett, Nick Rowan and Brett Smith all netted goals for the Spartans (8-4, 6-2) in the rout. Tim Clark had four saves in the contest and picked up his seventh
shutout of the season.
St. Joe’s 5, Iroquois 0
C.J. Scirto scored a hat trick for St. Joe’s in the non-league win. Zack Schmidt had a goal and three assists for the Marauders (6-5-1 overall). Jake Dimatteo also scored, while Jim Maiarana and Nate Bell split the shutout in goal.

- R.J. Scarup had the game-winning goal for Starpoint in a 2-1 win over Pioneer. Mike Borner also scored for the Spartans (6-3-2).

Ken West 60, Niagara Falls 34
Lindsey Sagasta of Ken-West won the 200 free, 500 free and was a member of the winning 200 free relay with Marissa Dressel, Leah Villari and Haley Rice, and the winning 400 free relay with Dressel, Jill Meacham and Megan Sullivan. Sullivan also won the 100 fly for West (2-0 NFL), while Dressel won the 50 free, amd Villari took the 100 free and 100 back. Lauren Evans won the 100 breast for the Falls (1-1).
N-W 106, Lew-Port 64
Ally Yates won the 50 freestyle, as well as the 200 free relay with Christine Reil, Marissa Oakey and Marissa Watroba, and also finished first in the 400 freestyle with Jessica Smith, Caitlin Barber and Brittany Hoover. Oakey also won the 100 fly, and Watroba earned the top spot in the 500 freestyle for N-W (2-0 NFL) in a win over Lew-Port (0-2).
Grand Island 115, Ken East 70
Grand Island’s Stacey Cich was victorious in the 200 individual medley, the 200 freestyle relay along with Victoria Fortman, Chelsea Rupert and Jennie McCoy and athe 400 freestyle relay with Rupert, McCoy and Krisitin Millar. Megan McInerney spearheaded the Vikings’ (1-1 NFL) diving attack with a score of 206.05. Sasha Nagelhout of East (0-2) was a double winner, taking home first place in the 50 and 100 freestyles.
North Tonawanda 104, Lockport 82
Andi Parish broke a long-standing NT school record when she swam the 200 free in 2 minutes, 00.71 seconds. Parish also won the 100 breast and the 200 free relay with Staci Czaja, Krysta Cwyner and Taylor Ackerman. Cwynar was the 50 free first place finisher for NT (1-1 NFL)
Tonawanda 51, Lackawanna 32
Tonawanda’s Rachel Haentges won the 50 free, 100 free, and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team along with Melissa Primiano, Anita MacKay and Jessica Fetterhoff. MacKay took the 200 individual medley, 100 fly and was a part of the 400 free relay team along with Brianna Horn, Emily Christman and Jenn Rayner. Christman also won the 100 breast, while Horn also won the 200 free and 500 free for Tonawanda (1-2 in ECIC III) in a win over Lackawana (0-3).

Lew-Port 1, Niagara-Wheatfield 1 (OT)
Jenna Van Dusen scored for Lew-Port on an assist from Gretchen Herb for Lew-Port’s lone goal. Lindsay Carr had 15 saves for the Lady Lancers (7-2-1, 5-2-1 NFL). Caitlin Attfield netted the goal for the Falcons (5-5-2, 3-4-1) in the first half off an assist from Katie Higgins. Reserve goalkeeper Michelle Maggard recorded 12 saves.
Ken East 3, Niagara Falls 0
Kailee Wainwright and Kelly McDonald scored, while Kristen Hoar earned the shutout for visiting Ken East (2-7, 2-5 NFL). Elizabeth Mannarino played well on defense for Niagara Falls (0-8, 2-9).
NT 3, Lockport 0
Amanda Smyth and Julie Harmon each had a goal and an assist and Colleen Wiechec added a goal to help the Lady Jacks to the NFL road victory. Christina Sarokon picked up the shutout for NT (6-3 overall, 5-2 NFL).
For Lockport (2-10, 1-7), Brittany Watson (midfield), Megan Kuczka (sweeper) and Bethany Patterson (defender) had strong games.
Starpoint 8, Maryvale 0
Nicole Borner had two goals and Teresa Delabio had a goal and four assists as the Spartans rolled to the victory.
Kristi Delabio, Brittany Bratek, Katelyn Mazgaj, Chelsea Reed and Kara Forster all scored for Starpoint (8-2-1, 5-1-1 ECIC III). Forster also split the shutout for the winners while Maryvale fell to 1-10 overall and 0-8 in ECIC III.
Tonawanda 2, Holland 1
Britney Giuga scored both goals for Tonawanda in the ECIC IV win. Sisters Meagan and Kaitlyn Moore had the assists for Tonawanda (4-4-1, 3-3-1). Holland falls to 6-2-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the league.
Immaculata 5, NC 0
Renee Polka recorded 15 saves for the Patriots (2-7). Jordin Puzan and Krista Kajfasz played well on defense, coach Brian Harrison said.

Ken West 3, Grand Island 1
Taylor Lewandowski had 15 kills for Ken-West (9-0 overall, 7-0 NFL), while Chelsea Moore had 12 digs, and Kelly Hess had five aces and 11 kills in the 19-25 (GI), 25-18, 25-21, 25-22 win over GI (3-6, 3-4). Chelsea Hall had 19 kills and Susan Pioli had 17 assists and four aces for GI.
Lockport 3, Lew-Port 0
Katelyn Prue had 30 assists and six service aces to lead the Lions in the 25-5, 25-18, 25-10 NFL sweep. Leah Sobieraski contributed 11 kills, seven digs and five blocks for Lockport (7-3, 5-2), while Amy Johnson added 10 kills, four digs and two blocks. Emily Donovan had three kills and two blocks.
Kristine Rispon led Lew-Port (1-7, 1-7) with eight blocks and two digs. Janelle Stepien had seven digs, and Alex Lawson had six assists.

Connor Brogan led the visiting Blue Devils (5-2) with eight kills, 12 digs, six blocks and an ace in the 25-19, 16-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-12 win. Also for West (5-2), Tamar Shogan had three kills, two digs and eight blocks. Grand Island dropped to 5-2 overall and 4-2 in league play.

Alex Buerger shot one under par with a 35 to earn medalist honors for K-W as they topped the Falls (2-9 in NFL) at Hyde Park. Greg Bullock shot a 36 for the Falls, while Carl Graff shot a 37, Nick Quarantillo a 38, and Alex Kammerer and Nick Ross both shot a 39 for N-W (7-4).

Medalist Mike McCrossan of Ken West shot a 37, but the Blue Devils (0-11 NFL) couldn’t defeat the Vikings (6-5) at River Oaks. John Osberg shot a 38 and Alex Fry shot a 39 for GI in the win.

Medalist Desmond Stoll shot a 39 in Lockport’s (10-1 NFL) victory at the Lockport Town & Country Club. James Quirk shot a 40 for Lockport, while Baxter Sukdolak and Kyle Fernandez both shot a 41. Pierce Terrance shot a 41 for the Bulldogs (5-6), while Mike Wlodarczyk shot a 42 in the loss, one of his best scores to date.
Starpoint 320, Maryvale 363
Starpoint’s Kyle Griffin and Dave Nowak from Maryvale both shot 40, but the Spartans prevailed in ECIC play from Diamond Hawk Golf Course.
Matt Miller shot a 44, while Joe Stead and Dave Ruta added rounds of 46 for Starpoint (5-1). Maryvale fell to 2-3.
St. Joe’s 12, Nichols 12
In a Monsignor Martin Athletic Association tie at the Country Club of Buffalo, Nichols 12, James Blackwell of St. Joe’s and Chris Stegemann of Nichols tied for medalist honors, with both shooting 36.

Medalist Dave Taylor carded 33 for victorious Timon in Monsignor Martin Athletic Association play. Timon improved to 8-1, while O’Hara dropped to 0-8. Playing well in defeat for O’Hara were Tom Wilkie and James Leslie, according to coach John Dennis.

Derrick Garigen and Matt Szczerbiak of Alden (3-1 overall) shared medalist honors with three-over par 38s at Evergreen. Zach Carlisle was the low man for the Warriors (1-7), finishing with a 42.

Medalist Brenda Knott shot a 48 to catapult Mount St. Mary to the Monsignor Martin Athletic Association victory at Sheridan. Danielle Blount added a 55, and Rachel Saltarelli carded a 59 for the Academy (5-1 MMAA). No information was reported for Holy Angels (2-5).

Kelly Pyrak’s three-set win at first singles helped the Lady Jacks to the NFL win. According to coach John LeMar, the first doubles team of Alyssa Molina and Lydia Golach also earned a key point for NT (3-8 NFL). Katie Livingston won at third singles for Lew-Port (0-12).
Tonawanda 5, Lackawanna 0
Meghan Kossow improved her personal record this season to 8-1 by defeating Kayla Neill 6-1, 6-3. Jen Budzynski and Dawn Carter helped close out the shutout for Tonawanda (2-4 ECIC III), blanking Heather Maxwell and Samantha Wojcik of Lackawanna (0-5).
