TONAWANDA

St. Francis hosts dinner, theme raffle

The annual spaghetti dinner and theme tray raffle will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi School hall, 70 Adam St., City of Tonawanda.

Dinner is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 4 to 10 and free for those under age 4.

NORTH TONAWANDA

Sikora Post schedules dinner

A spaghetti dinner with meatballs, salad, bread, butter and beverage, will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Stephen Sikora American Legion Post 1322, 950 Payne Ave., North Tonawanda.

Dinner is $6 with choice of homemade dessert available for an additional $1.50.



History museum plans used book sale

A winter used book sale, featuring paperbacks and hardcover books, will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the North Tonawanda History Museum, 54 Webster St.

The “bag of books for $5” sale will be offered. Most paperbacks are 50 cents each or three for $1. Hardcover are $1 each or three for $2.

Museum publications, books by local authors and the War of 1812 bicentennial maps are available at the museum’s gift shop.



Spaghetti served at Renaissance Club

The Renaissance Club of North Tonawanda will serve spaghetti from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the club, 252 Vandervoort St.

All-you-can-eat spaghetti is $3 with a la carte items available, including ravioli, homemade soup and desserts. The club is open to the public.



Fish fry scheduled at K of C

The Women’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus will host a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the K of C Hall, 755 Erie Ave.,, North Tonawanda.

Shrimp and scallops are available.

Library plans Valentine’s Day event

A Valentine’s Day craft will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive.

Children may come to the Children’s Room anytime and make a Valentine’s Day craft. Children age 5 and under may need a parent’s help.

Moose Lodge to host fish fry

Tonawanda Moose Lodge No. 2163, 75 Washington St., North Tonawanda, will host a fish fry from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Dinner includes fish, coleslaw, potato and macaroni salads and french fries for $8.75.

KEN-TON

St. Andrew’s hosts ‘Black and Gold Knight’

A “Black and Gold Knight Gala” is planned from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday at St. Andrew's Country Day School, 1545 Sheridan Drive, Kenmore.

The event will feature music of Studio 54 with food provided by Kevin's Catering.

Also planned are an auction and a $5,000 cash raffle.

Tickets are $25 or two for $40.

  • BULLETIN: Events published March 11, 2010 The Community Education and Referral program of the Mental Health Association in Niagara County Inc. will offer free support group facilitator training twice in March.

    Call 693-1199 if you plan to attend. Donation is $5 for adults, $4 for those age 60 and older, and free for children under age 10.

  • BULLETIN: Events published March 6, 2010 Gregory Kinal will present a program on “Impact of the ’50s” at the 7 p.m. meeting Wednesday of the Historical Society of the Tonawandas in the community room at city hall, Niagara Street. The program will feature a look at the 1950s in America with images of everyday life, fads, political figures, dress styles and celebrities.

    All are invited.

  • BULLETIN: Events published March 5, 2010 Job applications for City of Tonawanda residents interested in seasonal work are available in the city clerk’s office at city hall.

    Positions include laborers, pool/playground attendants, lifeguards, park attendants and Gateway Harbor attendants.

    Anyone interested in a seasonal laborer position and available full time by April 15 should return completed applications to the clerk’s office by March 31.

    All other applications must be returned by April 15. All applicants must be residents of Tonawanda and at least 16 years old by June 1.

  • BULLETIN: Events published March 3, 2010 The Buffalo Society of Artists is bringing back its historic “Thumb Box Exhibition” which features small works by members of the society from Saturday through March 26 at Partners in Art Gallery, 74 Webster St., North Tonawanda.

    A reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday will open the show. All are invited.

    Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

  • BULLETIN: Events published Feb. 26, 2010 “Princess and the Frog” will be the featured movie at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Riviera Theatre, 67 Webster St., North Tonawanda as part of the Saturday Family Film series sponsored by the YWCA Tonawandas and the theater.

    Tickets are $2. A $1 raffle ticket or a non-perishable food item for the YWCA food pantry buys a chance to win a movie poster.
