St. Jude seniors change meeting day
St. Jude the Apostle Seniors will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday instead of Tuesday because of Election Day and will be entertained by The Bargemen, a singing group.
The meeting will be in Kreuzer Hall at the church, Niagara Falls Boulevard, North Tonawanda.
Election Day bake sale set at DeGraff
The DeGraff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is hosting an Election Day bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the hospital’s admission lobby.
All are invited.
Historic preservation group reschedules meeting
The North Tonawanda Historic Preservation Commission has rescheduled its meeting from Tuesday to Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at city hall.
The public is welcome.

Sudoku event for adults set at library
Sudoku for Adults will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday at the City of Tonawanda Public Library, 333 Main St.
Prizes and refreshments will be featured.
Registration is required and may be made in person or by calling the library at 693-5043.
Library plans Election Day bake sale
A special Election Day bake sale will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, at the City of Tonawanda Library, 333 Main St.
The library is now a polling location. A basket raffle will begin that day and continue until Dec. 10.

Brighton Place presents veterinarian, author
Dr. Peter J. Freyburger author of “Vetting: The Making of a Veterinarian,” will present a book signing at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brighton Place Library, 999 Brighton Road, Town of Tonawanda.
Freyburger will have his book available for purchase with part of the proceeds donated to the SPCA, the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Medical Society’s Pet Emergency Fund, and Brighton Place Library.
The book is based upon Freyburger’s path in becoming a veterinarian and animal lover. He is the co-founder of Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic in the Town.
Children’s author to share stories
A night with renowned children’s author Mike Thaler will be presented from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kenmore Methodist Church, 32 Landers Road, Kenmore.
The writer, also known as America’s Riddle King and the Court Jester of Children’s Literature, will share some of his stories from the Black Lagoon and Heaven and Mirth series.
The even is free and open to the public.

Paper piecing topic of Quilters Guild
English paper piecing will be the program for the Twin City Quilters Guild at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Wheatfield Community Center. 2790 Church Road.

Job applications for City of Tonawanda residents interested in seasonal work are available in the city clerk’s office at city hall.
Positions include laborers, pool/playground attendants, lifeguards, park attendants and Gateway Harbor attendants.
Anyone interested in a seasonal laborer position and available full time by April 15 should return completed applications to the clerk’s office by March 31.
All other applications must be returned by April 15. All applicants must be residents of Tonawanda and at least 16 years old by June 1. -
